JCI Curepipe contributed once more to the JCI Campaign: ”Peace is Possible” by collaborating with Global Dignity Mauritius on a Peace Forum under the theme: Peace through Dignity on the 22nd October. Global Dignity Mauritius is the local chapter of Global Dignity International headed by HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway and aims to empower young people through dignity principles. The Forum took place at the American Corner of the Dale Carnegie Library courtesy of our collaborator, the US Embassy in Mauritius.
The panellists included Senator Nousrina Peerbux from JCI Mauritius, Barkha Mossae from the Global Shapers Port Louis Hub, Brother Pradeep Jagutpal from Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University and Anishah Aujayeb, Country Chair of Global Dignity Mauritius.
The panel discussions were along the lines of how to achieve peace through dignity. Since we all have our own definition of what dignity means to us, we aimed to show that despite the differences, we had a common goal of peace and dignity. Through empowerment and the giving of dignity to ourselves and others, we could create a better society which is more inclusive and which promotes peace. We saw how young people could take steps towards this goal through small actions from building inner peace, to giving dignity to each and everyone around us and eventually spreading the word about dignity and peace to create a ripple effect.
