Learn how you could win a spot to see a net distribution in action during a UN Foundation and JCI Nothing But Nets trip to Africa.
Since the JCI Nothing But Nets campaign began in 2008, we’ve seen great progress in the global campaign to end malaria deaths. When we started, a child died of malaria every 30 seconds. Then last year, it became every 45 seconds. Now, a child dies of malaria every 60 seconds. Although the numbers show the campaign against malaria has been effective, we all know that even one child dying of malaria is too many.
In 2012, the stakes are getting higher. The UN Foundation is offering JCI members a once-in-a-lifetime experience as a prize for the JCI Countdown to Congress. Using a new online fundraising platform called Crowdrise, JCI National Organizations and members can compete to win.
The Competition is On
Beginning in 2009, JCI National Organizations have joined the competition to raise money to save lives leading up to each JCI World Congress in the JCI Nothing But Nets Countdown to Congress Challenge.
In 2012, the UN Foundation is offering a prize for winners of the 2012 Countdown to Congress Challenge: the opportunity to join the UN Foundation during a trip to Africa to observe a net distribution in action. Each of the top three JCI National Organization winners will have the chance to select one representative to join a UN Foundation observation trip in early 2013. Additionally, the top individual fundraiser will have the opportunity to join the observation trip.
The JCI National Organization winners will be decided by total donations raised from January 1, 2012 until the beginning of the 2012 JCI World Congress in Taipei, Taiwan. The individual winner will be determined by total donations raised by that individual from January 1, 2012 until the beginning of World Congress. Anyone is eligible to win as an individual, including members, nonmembers and friends of JCI.
