PR Event No.2: Catamaran TamTam

The Junior Chamber International Curepipe organised its second Public Relations (PR) event of 2010 on Saturday 29 May. For recall, the first PR event was a team bonding session in January 2010 on the glorious beach of Mont Choisy.

The venue of the second PR event was promising, and the event title was mouth-watering… Afterall, an evening on a catamaran, off the very beautiful north coast of Mauritius was something to really look forward to… and the start indeed kept all the promises. We boarded at about 5pm and setting sail into the legendary sunset was the finest ways to start our journey to a wonderful evening. The Project Team confirmed that the response exceeded their expectations. It was a pleasure for them to host 70 persons for the evening, including Senator Karen Smyth from JCI Australia, and were delighted to book TWO catamarans for the event.

Earlier that day, the event started by a well-oiled transport arrangement for all those who confirmed for the event. Pick up points were arranged as follows:

  • Curepipe: Municipal Council of Curepipe
  • Vacoas: Municipal Council of Vacoas
  • Quatres Bornes: Municiapl Council of Quatres Bornes
  • Rose Hill: Le Plaza
  • Port Louis: Central Post Office

The evening had an uninvited guest: some rain, but that hardly dampened the enthusiasm. On the contrary, it only helped to get the party started, with music and dancing to beat the slight wind. Slowly, the dancing turned frantic, the laughter contagious and the pleasure level soared to a max. Some were enjoying the net at the front of the catamaran while others were dancing in queue all round the two catamarans…

When sailing back to the quay after the event, I recalled the Project Team’s teaser words “Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride with delicious appetisers and mesmerising drinks”; that turned out to be only half the truth… because the whole truth was the event was awesome, the food was great, the drinks were out of this world, the company was the best possible and the whole was an immense success… Kudos Project Team and Kudos JCI Curepipe.
