What is Men in Networking (MAV) movement about?
Men against violence was created in 2009 by WIN (Women In Networking). With the collaboration of lead organization JCI Curepipe (Junior Chamber International Curepipe), The Ministry of Gender Equality and the British High Commission, MAV launched a campaign against gender based violence.

What is MAV doing?
Gender based violence is one of the most deeply entrenched areas of human life and requires changing attitudes and behaviour about gender roles and relationships at all levels. A massive awareness campaign has already been launched in Mauritius in the past years and MAV is continuing its efforts to sensitize a larger part of the Mauritian society with a view to also encourage men to stand up and say no to violence against women. In Mauritius, we have a tendency to say that these are women’s issues. MAV contend that this is not true – these are society’s issues and men need to care about gender violence too, because it not only affects their family, their children but our whole nation and the future of our children.

Up till now MAV has conducted successful awareness campaigns with youngsters, governmental institutions, colleges and universities covering a good part of the country.

JCI Curepipe and MAV
JCI Curepipe is a founder organisation of Women in Networking (WIN) and is the lead agency with WIN on the Men Against Violence (MAV) project. JCI Curepipe has been present in various community development projects since 1984. In this vein, it was seen as an interesting opportunity to create a solid collaboration between JCI Curepipe and MAV in order to continue the good work and provide with assistance for the new organization.
